SUMMER MISSIONS 2006

Several members of our church are going on missions trips organized by other groups outside of the AMI network. As a church, we want to support these members and the missionary work they are a part of, not only financially but also through prayer.

Jessica Wilson
Summer Medical Institute
This summer from June 30th to July 29th, we will be partnering with 30 other medical students and healthcare professionals in Harlingen, Texas and Matamoros, Mexico serving in the Summer Medical Institute (SMI) and providing free medical screenings while sharing the hope of the Gospel. In Texas we will be making home visits in some of the most medically underserved communities of our country, while in Mexico, we will be running clinics out of the local churches and helping them in their outreach.

Melissa Cheung
Tibet, from May 26 to June 22.
This is a people group heavily engaged in Tibetan Buddhism. Their culture and life evolve around this religion. We will be interceding on behalf of these people. Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF) plans to send long-term workers to this region, so they are sending this short-term prayer team to prepare the way for them.

James Kim
Brazil (Amazon and Sao Paulo), from July 23 to August 11

With a team of 13 people, we will be going to have open-air praise consisting of songs, body worship, and the presentation of the gospel message. We will be doing VBS (Vacation Bible School) for the local native children where they will participate in various crafts and games.

Prayer requests:

- Our missionary needs constant prayer to fight the spiritual battle going on in Brazil.
- A lot of people on our team are busy. We barely have a full team. So prayer that we would overcome these obstacles to serve God as one.
- My heart, that I will always be humbly serving the people of Brazil, my team, and God.

Isabel Kuo
Isabel Kuo
Prayer requests:
- God to be glorified through our team
- God's work in the people we encounter
- Clarity for personal calling

Darren Kwong
China, from June 29 to July 22

Prayer requests:

- Preparation - spiritually and logistically: I will be leading worship for the team during the trip, so please pray that I can have a humble heart to lead the team in worship. Also, we need to pack and bring all our medicines which will be a challenge. For training, we will be having a free clinic in Los Angeles, so please pray that that will go well and that the gospel can be shared in this way even at home.
- Government - We are probably going to be closely monitored by the Chinese government, so please pray that we can find favor with them. Our team was originally going to travel into the remote villages, but this does not seem likely anymore due to restrictions from the government. Please pray that we can still reach out to the people that come to the county hospitals and that we can be of help there.
- Team Unity - Our team consists of people all from all over the country and personally, some of the preparation and training seems a bit disorganized. Please pray that as the departure date comes closer, that we can be united under the head of Christ and that we can work well together.

Jason Lee
Beijing, China from June 27 to August 19.

I'm participating with an organization called ISEC (Intercollegiate Summer English Camps). It's a group that gathers Ivy league, Oxford, and Cambridge students to teach English Camps in China but also evangelize to the Chinese students in the process.

Prayer requests:
- For me to be spiritually well prepared: that God would grant me the desire and passion to know God more; openness to God's guidance and action; humility towards God and towards others; love for the people of China and members of my team; and zeal for the salvation of souls.
- Unity and good relations within the teams and with the students: for genuine friendships to be made and for there to be a pervasive atmosphere of encouragement, compassion, openness and joy, that the students would be open to hearing the word and receiving Christ.
- For God's protection over all the members of the team: that the team would remain healthy and strong but also that there would be good relations between the ISEC organization and the Chinese Authorities.

Jeremy and Jen Teppig
Guatemala, from July 15 to July 29.

Jeremy will be working with the medical team and serving in a clinic while Jen will be helping out with Vacation Bible School (VBS) during the day and the worship team for revival meetings in the evening. During the 2nd week, Jen will be working with other teachers to help develop curriculum for the Christian school there.

Please pray for...
- Jeremy's schedule to work out given the residency rotations for July 15-29th
- God to help prepare our hearts to serve and love the people of Chisec
- His empowerment as Jen teaches there and for the worship team during the youth rally
- safety and protection in travel and health
