09/06/05 - Psalm
3
I
can really identify with this Psalm. Many times
I felt that odds were against me. There have been
some strong spiritual attacks in my life. I cannot
fully express it in words but there is spiritual
warfare is happening at GCC and in my life. We should
not be surprised my friends. We want to be a prevailing
church and I believe the enemy does not want us
to get there. The enemy wants to confuse us. He
wants to make us think we are fighting a losing
battle. But remember it is God who started us and
He will finish it. Let us just be faithful.
Psalmist writes, “To the Lord I cry aloud,
and he answers me from his holy hill.” I like
this verse because I love crying out to my Father
for help. I thank God that He does answer. I have
cried for help so many times in my life. And God
has delivered me time and time again. Just Sunday
as I was drifting to sleep I was praying, “Lord
I need your help. I cannot do this “church
thing” …I really need your help.”
As
we go into this semester I have to be honest I feel
desperate. Not because something is going wrong
but more and more I realized I can do nothing without
Him. I really feel the enemy attacking. This is
my prayer lately, “Lord I trust you and I
hold on to your promises. Teach me to be faithful
with the task you have called me.”
On
another note, what do you think about this verse,
“Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God! Strike
all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the
wicked.” This is pretty strong language. But
it is honest. I view this as an offensive prayer
against the devil and his lying ways. As I think
about our spiritual enemy I kind of like it when
the Psalmist writes, “break the teeth of the
wicked.”
I
want to leave you with these verses to meditate
on. Remember we can be like a tree planted by the
stream of living water. Friends even if thousand
things go wrong we do not have to fear because the
Lord will sustain us. We can live a life of thankfulness
and faithfulness.
3 But you are a shield
around me, O LORD;
you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
4 To the LORD I cry aloud,
and he answers me from his holy hill.
Selah
5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
6 I will not fear the tens of thousands
drawn up against me on every side
To
the Emmaus group: I had a great time at
the Labor Day picnic. I want to thank those who
prepared and also those who cleaned up afterwards.
I was thinking how blessed we are to have a great
God and a great church to fellowship with. Next
time though can we play some soccer? When is the
soccer fever going to come back to GCC? But I understand
volleyball is a fun game. Anyway, thanks about to
those who served us at the picnic. Lastly, yes…I
will try to remember that it is “preying mantis
not pre-mantis.”
