09/09/05 - Psalm
6
It
has been a good week. Busy, but it has been good.
I spent most of my day at Temple. Trying to see
if God will open some doors for a consistent place
to meet. I believe God will. I am really excited
about the Temple site. There is so much potential
there. I am praying God will raise up a generation
of students that will want to make a difference
on Temple. Men and women that really want to see
the light of Jesus shine there.
6
I am worn out from groaning;
all night long I flood my bed with weeping
and drench my couch with tears.
7
My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
they fail because of all my foes.
8
Away from me, all you who do evil,
for the LORD has heard my weeping.
9
The LORD has heard my cry for mercy;
the LORD accepts my prayer.
10
All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed;
they will turn back in sudden disgrace.
As
you read this Psalm you know David is facing great
difficulties in life. He writes, “I am worn
out from groaning; all night long I flood my bed
with weeping and drench my couch with tears.”
Think about this, David is a warrior. But he is
very honest about his feelings. Who said a grown
man cannot cry?
Can
you identify with David? I know I do. But more than
the difficulty… I can identify with the fact
that David knows God will fight for him. He states,
“All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed;
they will turn back in sudden disgrace.” David
has his struggles but these struggles lead him toward
God. Does difficulties lead you toward God or away
from God?
I
have seen so many people that when the difficulties
come they forget God. Some actually get bitter at
God. David had many trials in his life and each
one of them drew him to God. I think this is one
of the reasons that God calls David, a man after
His own heart. I pray we will also have a heart
after God.
